Meet the Family Behind Silent Spring Farm
Larry and Lexy were both born and raised in the Smithville and Plattsburg areas. In December 2018, we put down roots on a small homestead and named it Silent Spring, inspired by the 40-foot-deep well marked by our windmill.
Lexy grew up immersed in agriculture—active in FFA and 4-H, and always lending a hand on her family’s farm. Larry spent his childhood visiting his family’s farm and later served in the United States Marine Corps during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. After his service, he worked as a welder and then in the corporate world.
Lexy began making soap in 2014—originally a small side project to pair with her homegrown produce at the local farmers market. With incredible community support, her soaps quickly became a holiday favorite. By 2019, we began offering handmade soaps year-round from our farm.

To support our growing soap and raw milk offerings, we welcomed our first ADGA Alpine goats in 2019. In 2023, we added LaManchas—Lexy has a soft spot for these sweet, earless wonders.

In 2024, we opened our farm gates to guests, launching hands-on soapmaking classes right here at Silent Spring. What began as a way to connect with our community has blossomed into something truly special. We're now proud to host monthly events on the farm—offering seasonal activities, workshops, and meaningful ways for people to slow down, learn something new, and experience farm life up close.

As Silent Spring grows, so does our dream. Larry is transitioning away from the corporate world and finding his joy and passion in the everyday rhythm of farm life—building, milking, fixing fences, and raising animals alongside our boys.
At the heart of it all is our family: Larry, Lexy, and our three sons—Emmet, Eli, and baby Ezra—growing up just like we did, learning from the land, helping with chores, and making memories together every day.
Everything we do is rooted in love—for our family, our animals, and the incredible community that surrounds us.
